Little Girm Masterbates

a dream for Pollena Trocchia

Up to 19 years lived in Pollena Trocchia, near Naples, then, although from 1979 to 1984 in his home country of origin, began to work elsewhere since 1987 and lives in Melbourne, although in recent years he has lived at the turn of Australia, Buenos Aires and Italy. We are talking about the journalist Rosario Scarpato who works as a TV producer and, until recently, has been busy as well as a university teacher. The latter activity, however, left because they allowed him to travel as desired. In Italy Scarpato programs are broadcast on Rai Sat and his latest series is titled "Travel of Gourmet Global (Sky channel 405). We managed to track down the Doctor and ask him some questions Scarpato .

Dr. Scarpato, we can begin this interview with one of his memories of children playing on the streets to free the village of Trocchia? More
that memories of childhood I like to remember the battles "social" we did as teenagers with a group of friends. It was our way to be free. Things that make you smile today, but at the time were important: the pirate stall on Sunday morning, in front of the church, outside of the first set. We sell everything from vegetables to nylon stockings. A "fair" price, as they say today. Those were times of high prices and we asked a weekly market that was not there yet to Pollen and that merchants, friends of politicians, obstructed. But lots of other things, like sit on the tracks in the Circumvesuviana because all trains stop in the small station Guindazzi, located in the village of Trocchia, the relief operations for earthquake and flood victims. Everything outside of parties ... Up to the collections "differentiated" to finance: we wanted to make a free radio in 1976 I believe, one of the first. And we did, most of the funds were there from people who gave us the first Trocchia cartons and waste paper, rags, and then finally scrap.

Pistolese Palace (originally owned by the family Seripando)

and the parish church of Trocchia

What was the name of this station?
Radio Antenna "Veseri" as the river that once ran through the municipal area of \u200b\u200bPollena Trocchia.

you, in 1983, he published the book "Apollo and trochlear dedicated to its history and traditions of his town of origin. In this book, what has remained deep in?
Pollena Trocchia name in those days - and still today - to foster a kind of hilarity. There were those who believed that there was not even, as if the elusive Puntillo Superior Film Troisi, and the book served a little to do justice. It 's true that once it is Apollo who had trochlear rural villages, but it is also true that they were always very close to Naples as a city. First of all geographically close (6 miles Ponticelli, the last quarter of Naples, and 11 km from downtown) and then for 4-5 months a year because Pollena Trocchia, from the eighteenth century until the early twentieth century, came to vacation and tens dozens of families of Naples well, with follow-up and servitude. A piece of Naples that is transferred annually to Pollena Trocchia. It was also the occasion of the famous foreign napoletanizzati as Gaetano Donizetti, who was Trocchia to stay for the wine and to compose. Things that "felt" with documents, after the release of trochlear and Apollo, "in a book with more hands on the great musician of origin Bergamo.

Villa Trinchera

speak of Australia. For her, what it means to live in this "continent"?
I went there for vacation and I still consider myself on vacation. One day perhaps I will return, but hardly, in Italy, although I love. Melbourne is an ideal city, will not have the Colosseum, the Faraglioni, the tower of Pisa, but a community life and a respect for social rules of living together without equal. As one friend of mine, to live well in Australia, does not take much: respect the law, without a shower every day and try to talk a bit 'of English. For this can live together peacefully in Melbourne 152 different ethnic groups. Another friend of mine recommended to never write the postcards, emails or letters to friends and or relatives in Italy, and Australia is good. To avoid that we want to come too.

have a way to associate with other Italians living in Australia?
Not anymore. At the beginning of more, because they speak a language very close to mine, but were and are culturally very different from me. Some have left Italy 50 years ago and never returned. A cultural gap is too large. Italians are so frequent that recently arrived for work, and have friends of all races, is Australia! Over the past two years I'm so much time in Buenos Aires and also there is the same thing.

Based on his personal experience, can tell me what the "health" of the Italian community in Australia? Will eventually "melt" into a great nation or continue to maintain their characteristics?
We live, as they say, in a "glocal" ( term for the fusion of global and local ed). The concept of nationhood, of belonging has been profoundly changed. I consider myself a by product global era (jet, telephone, internet, frequent flyer, the abolition of visas, etc..), But the roots do not stop being local. I speak of values, not folklore. The more they eat the pasta al dente Australians that Italians in Australia. And I speak of values, of course Italian. I will never Zen, I grew up with active models (such as "I wanted, I wanted to always wanted very strongly" by Alfieri), I can still drive - and park - in Naples, I like the crib, I love the work. My ideal of community social, political and economic, however, is Australia. I do not know if this is equivalent to melt or lose identity. I think not. In Australia we live better. And this counts only. The rest, again, is folklore (such as " luntane Napule a nun if bit 'is ). Besides, once the Italians also think so. The Romans wrote about suburban areas colonized: Ubi well ibi home. Where one feels good, that is home.

She certainly has its dreams. At least one of the public can make in this blog?
Sometimes I want to do something in Naples. What do I know? Some efforts to create a cultural attraction or tourist class. Naples has so much potential, but every time I try I struggle with the same things: the superficiality, the carelessness, corruption ... And what most upsets me that, years pass, and things are always in the hands of the same people. An oligarchy of power, media, institutions, in business, which continues to complain about all the shortcomings of the city, the Camorra, forgetting that this situation has created itself. Oh, and speaking of dreams, and once I wanted to propose an International Festival of volcanic earth (nature, food, art, research, etc.) to do in Pollena Trocchia. Yes, right there. One thing well done, to boost the image of the whole area. Those who have told me they looked as if I were a Martian. ( by Carlo Silvano, carlo.silvano @ poste.it )
